Survey of Surveys: Report
The survey sample was weighted by gender and academic field to represent the population as closely as possible. The measure of sampling error for questions answered by the full sample is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
In this survey, we first asked a random sample of university-based scientists about their personal experiences participating in surveys in the past. This was followed by various questions on whether they enjoy doing surveys or they think of them as burdensome. We also asked if they thought surveys were an invasion of privacy and whether surveys are a reliable source of information for the general public.
